Yi-Hsueh Chuang

Yi-Hsueh Brad Chuang is an Associate Professor in the Institute of Environmental Engineering at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Taiwan. His research focuses on environmental chemistry and the development of advanced treatment technologies for water and wastewater. His group investigates the reactions of chlorine-based oxidants, photochemical processes, and their applications in contaminant control. Recent studies include chlorine-assisted photolysis for ammonia removal in response to increasingly stringent discharge standards and UV/chlorine treatment for pharmaceutical removal as Taiwan considers greater control of pharmaceutical residues in hospital wastewater. By linking fundamental reaction mechanisms with emerging regulatory and practical needs, his research seeks to develop scientifically grounded and implementable solutions for water-quality protection. He received his Ph.D. from National Taiwan University and conducted postdoctoral research at Stanford University.
